Intellectual Property Management

 

Kinsus is committed to the research and development of advanced technologies, and intellectual property is a core asset supporting the Company’s continued growth. By aligning its intellectual property strategy with key business development objectives, Kinsus actively develops its patent, trademark, and copyright portfolios to ensure that technological achievements are transformed into market advantages. At the same time, through rigorous internal controls, the Company places great importance on protecting the trade secrets of both its customers and Kinsus, thereby strengthening mutual trust and maintaining the Company’s competitiveness.
Guided by the philosophy of “Satisfying Customers and Pursuing Excellence,” Kinsus protects its intellectual property through the establishment and implementation of an intellectual property management system. The Company also encourages employee innovation, thereby strengthening its market competitiveness and profitability.

I、Intellectual Property Rights Management at Kinsus

In accordance with the Intellectual Property Management Guidelines, most recently revised in 2024, Kinsus implements its intellectual property management practices and reports the implementation results to the Board of Directors at least once a year. The implementation status of intellectual property management for 2025 was reported to the Board of Directors on December 22, 2025.

1. Patent Management
(1)Establishment: In accordance with the Intellectual Property Management Guidelines and based on the principles of protecting the Company’s own intellectual property rights and respecting those of others, each department converts the results of the Company’s research and technology development into patents to appropriately protect and actively utilize the Company’s intellectual property rights.
(2)Maintenance: In accordance with the Intellectual Property Management Guidelines, the R&D units periodically (quarterly) review the commercial value, product applicability, and defensive value of existing patents to determine whether such patents should be maintained.
(3)Use: The Company’s intellectual property rights shall be licensed to vendors for use in a timely manner. Cross-licensing arrangements with vendors in foreign countries or Mainland China shall be conducted in accordance with applicable local laws and regulations.

2. Trademark Management: The Legal and Intellectual Property unit is responsible for matters related to the acquisition, maintenance, and management of trademark rights.

3. Trade Secret Management
(1)Education and Training: As part of the Company’s new employee orientation, the Human Resources training unit provides education and training related to trade secret management.
(2)Information Security Management: The Company’s information security unit conducts awareness and education activities and implements network security protection, email security controls, and device security measures to establish comprehensive information security safeguards for the protection of trade secrets.
(3)Document Management: Each department has an internal document management system under which different levels of data access privileges are granted based on employees’ positions and job responsibilities.
(4)Access Control: The General Affairs unit provides employees with security access cards and grants appropriate access to designated areas based on their positions and job responsibilities. Visitors who are not Company employees are required to register their personal information and are restricted to designated areas. They must also be always accompanied by Company personnel.
4. Copyright Management: Copyrighted works resulting from R&D activities must be independently created and must not plagiarize or make unauthorized use of copyrighted materials for which permission has not been obtained. R&D works may only be disclosed externally after review and approval by the highest-ranking executive of the R&D Department. Patent applications must be filed before the relevant R&D results are published. Authors of R&D works are also required to retain relevant working papers and supporting materials.

II、Overview of Kinsus’ Intellectual Property Rights

1. Patents: As of December 31, 2025, the Company had legally obtained a total of 209 patents in Taiwan, Mainland China, the United States, Japan, and South Korea. Of these, 131 patents are currently maintained, with an additional 25 patent applications pending.
2. Trademarks: The Company has registered the Kinsus trademark in Taiwan, Mainland China, the United States, and other jurisdictions.
3. Trade Secrets: The Company’s trade secrets refer to information that is not generally known, has actual or potential economic value, and is subject to reasonable confidentiality measures, including but not limited to the following:
(1) Process formulas and operating parameters, such as temperature, pressure, chemical concentrations, and process conditions.
(2) Equipment calibration, maintenance, and related technical information.
(3)R&D data, design drawings, and testing data.
(4) Production yields, defect analysis, and quality control methods.
(5) Sources of raw materials, supplier lists, and negotiated terms.
(6)Customer lists, requirement specifications, historical orders, and contract details.
(7)Corporate strategies, investment plans, R&D roadmaps, and project schedules.
(8)Human resources systems, including compensation structures, performance evaluation methods, and talent development plans.

4. Copyrights: The Company’s copyrighted works include, but are not limited to, publications related to its research and development activities. As of December 31, 2025, the Company had published 26 papers in conferences and academic journals across relevant fields.
